Blowing your nose, straining, coughing, bending over, and lifting heavy objects can increase your risk of bleeding. Avoid these activities until your doctor advises otherwise. When sneezing, keep your mouth open.
How should I sleep to reduce swelling after surgery?
It will be more comfortable to sleep with your head supported by two or more pillows. This position helps reduce swelling in your nose and face resulting from the surgery.
How long will the nasal splint stay in place, and can I adjust it myself?
The nasal splint will remain in place for 5-10 days and will be removed by your doctor. You should never adjust or remove the splint yourself.
What types of foods should I avoid after surgery?
What can I do to reduce swelling more quickly after surgery?
Reducing your salt intake for a month will help the swelling go down faster. Additionally, you should drink at least 3 liters of water a day.
